5 Things you NEED for August (because Autumn sucks sometimes..)
There are lots of lists that I love to scan through; podcast channels to see what's new, the "Continue Watching" category of Netflix to track the shows that I swear to myself I'll return to (I never do), and even scrolling through my chosen meal delivery kit choices brings me a joy that quells my hangry mind.
Which is why making a list of those important items for August is not only necessary, but ~MANDATORY~ for maximum scorching-hot-weather enjoyment. Summer will be gone soon, but we can at least enjoy it while its here with these few items.
1. Sunscreen
Hey! I see you in the back scoffing and rolling your eyes. And to that I say, "yup; I used to be you. Totally get it."
But get this!
All skin is susceptible to sun damage no matter where you may fall on the skin-type spectrum and if you don't protect it responsibly against wrinkles and photoaging, who will? The sunscreen fairy? Because I will tell ya, after months of non-extensive searching, they are nowhere to be found.
And just because you might be on the darker side of the melinated spectrum (as am I) does not mean that you are exempt from using sunscreen.
I've been using sunscreen for the last 10 years, but I've only been consciously selective about the types of sunscreen I use for the past two. If anyone knows a brand of chemical-free sunscreen that not only has a lotion-like consistency, but is cruelty-free, coral-reef safe, good for combo skin and(!!) smells amazing, let me know!
2. Sundresses
The most coveted item on hot summer days; that and a pair of cute sunnies, an ice cold drink and a cool breeze to gently lull you into slumber is my kind of summer weekend vibe.
Dresses are one of the most easiest items to style on a hot day, and with the temperature climbing, it's nice not to think about things that would encourage irritability; like matching tops and bottoms.
3. Heeled Sandals
I could be wrong, but tell me if anyone else but me believes the following sentiment:
Heeled sandals make all legs look sexy and all of us should be wearing them as often as possible.
I said it. @ me, I'm ready.
Heels (even if they are the height of two vertical ants) change not only the look of an outfit, but the way the outfit is carried on a person.
Your posture changes.
You walk taller.
Your 🍑 looks good.

4. Paper Bag Shorts
You know those times where it's 30 degrees Celsius WITHOUT the humidity and you've picked out your outfit for the day thinking that this will be the outfit that'll be 🔥🔥 without setting you on 🔥🔥, only to have it stick to your body like a latex glove as soon as you walk outside?
Well then get yourself a pair of paper bag shorts.
5. Face Mist
Depending on the product you buy, face mist helps with sealing in moisture, priming the face for make-up, and refreshing your face in general. Bonus points if you find one that smells like summer itself!
If you're ever in a place that doesn't have air conditioning, face mist is a great temporary alternative.
Be safe, have fun and get some sun!
